Christmas 2011
September 2010 marked the beginning
of the Society’s 40th year since its inaugural meeting in the old
school on Bearsted Green in 1970. The Society has grown from an
initial 20 Bearsted residents to around 60 enthusiastic members, most of whom
now live in Maidstone and nearby towns and
villages. The Society has recently been awarded Registered Charity status.
The Society generally puts on three regular concerts each year, in the spring, summer and winter. For the past few years we have been performing annual reciprocal concerts with Choral des Deux Caps, based in Wissant, France. More recently we have struck up collaborations with local choirs, including Upchurch Choral Society. As a Choral Society BCS sings a wide range of music – Secular and
religious, light opera, long and short pieces and new members are always warmly
welcomed in all four voice sections.
