Bearsted Choral Society

48th Season

Registered charity no. 1135663

Welcome to Bearsted Choral Society

Bearsted Choral Society is an amateur four-part choir of 60 members. We sing a variety of choral music spanning all musical periods. In recent seasons we have enjoyed exploring the choral work of a wide variety of composers including Mozart, Haydn, Faure, Elgar, Finzi and Rutter and songs from musicals and opera. The Concerts archive provides a more detailed history of our varied repertoire.

Most of our concerts are given in and around Bearsted often with professional soloists and orchestra. In recent seasons we have been pleased to have had opportunities to perform at other venues in Kent including the Colyer-Ferguson Hall in Canterbury.

We have a committed approach to our singing but our primary aim is to enjoy making music together. The choir is known for its friendliness, something which is highly valued by its members.

Choirs Beating Time

CHoirs Beating Time is a choir run at HMP Maidstone.

Our aims: maintain mental health and retain a sense of social inclusion.
Our website is: www.choirsbeatingtime.org.

In other prisons we bring in employers and develop links with the wider community that lead to job opportunities.

As most of our members in Maidstone will be deported,

that’s not helpful to them.

However – bringing in the outside world –

it’s optimism, reality, perspectives – is important to us.
