Established in 1970, Bearsted Choral Society is an amateur choir of about 65 members.  We sing a variety of choral music spanning all musical periods.  In recent seasons we have enjoyed exploring the choral work of British composers including Britten, Vaughan Williams, Elgar, Gardner, and Rutter.  Our concert history gives more information about our varied repertoire.

Our musical season begins each September and is divided into three terms.  Each term we rehearse a work or works for concert performance generally engaging professional soloists.  We usually perform at Holy Cross (Bearsted Parish Church) although we have performed at various venues in and around Maidstone and Medway.

We have a committed approach to our singing but our primary aim is to enjoy making music together.  The choir is known for its friendliness, something which is highly valued by its members.

In recent years we have built a relationship with a community choir in Wissant Pas de Calais (La Chorale des 2 Caps) and several very successful reciprocal visits have taken place.

The choir is often invited to sing at weddings (for which a fee is payable).  If you would like more information please email:

The society welcomes new members in all voice parts - soprano alto tenor and bass.  We do not hold auditions and ask only that you are enthusiastic committed and sing in tune.

We meet for rehearsal every Monday evening at 7.30pm at the Methodist Church in Ware Street Bearsted ME14 4PG.  If you are interested then please come along and give us a try.  For further information about rehearsals please follow one of the links below:
